Game Times and Pitcher for 4/14/12

14 Apr

We have three day games in store on a what is set to be a perfect day for baseball. Temps are expected to hit the mid-60s with sunny skies abound, so if you can reach one of these games, I highly suggest you go.

Che-Hsuan Lin became the first call up from the PawSox, as the defensive-minded outfielder was summoned by Boston to replace Jacoby Ellsbury who is expected to be out 6-8 weeks after partially dislocating his shoulder in yesterday’s Red Sox home opener.

Sea Dogs radio announcer Mike Antonellis (@seadogsradio) pointed out on Twitter this morning that it will be Billy Buckner against the Mets at Hadlock Field today. Buckner was roughed up in his first outing of the season against Trenton on Monday, allowing 5 earned run, 8 hits and 2 walks.

The PawSox will look for another strong outing from Alex Wilson who struck out 7 in five innings of work against Lehigh Valley.

In New Hampshire the Fisher Cats need to warm up their bats a bit after a slow start that has the defending Eastern League champs at 3-5. It will be a tall order against New Britain starter Logan Darnell, a 6’2″ left hander who is one of the top pitching prospects in the Minnesota Twins system.

Binghamton Mets (Darin Gorski 1-0, 0.00)
vs. Portland Sea Dogs (Billy Buckner 0-1, 9.00) @ 1:00 p.m.

Pawtucket Red Sox (Alex Wilson 0-0, 1.80)
vs. Rochester Red Wings (Garrett Olson 0-0, 1.50) @ 1:05 p.m.

New Britain Rock Cats (Logan Darnell 1-0, 1.80)
vs. New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Brett Cecil 0-1, 5.40) @ 1:35 p.m.
